Who or what is a "licensee"?
Licensee (user of the music) can be any natural or legal person, e.g. companies, freelancers, self-employed persons, associations, editorial offices, educational institutions, non-profit organizations. The purchased license is always valid for a SINGLE licensee.
Licensees - Examples
Example 1 - natural person:
You are self-employed and need music for your guided meditation? Then you are a licensee yourself.
Example 2 - Company:
You are an employee of a company and need background music for a corporate video. Then the company is a licensee.
Example 3 - Agencies:
As an employee:in an agency, you need music for a client's commercial? Then the client is the licensee, i.e. the EXTENDED license applies exclusively to this client and may not be transferred to any number of clients of your agency.
Where can I publish my project?
- Internet (e.g. social media platforms, YouTube, blog, website)
- Intranet (in-house)
- Fairs, events
- DVD or USB stick
Licenses for commercials in TV, cinema, radio, point of sales, public viewing only on request.
What exactly counts as a "project"?
The music of TerraSound.de may exclusively in a creative media project can be used. Here are some examples of valid projects:
Audiovisual projects - examples
- Video: Image film, product film, explainer video, online commercial, teaser / trailer, instructional video, meditation / yoga video etc.
- Game: Computer Game, Browser Game, Mobile Game, App
- Presentation: PowerPoint presentation, multivision show
- Art project: Play, magic show, pyro show
Pure audio productions - examples
- Voiceover: Radio play, audio book, meditation, podcast, radio jingle
- Hold: Answering machine, telephone waiting loop, telephone announcements
How long is my license valid?
The license is valid for an unlimited period of time for a single Licensee / end user of the music valid.
Can I sell my project too?
Yes. Example projects you may sell are e.g. guided meditations / hypnoses / mindfulness exercises (speaker:in + background music), audio books / audio plays, apps, games.
IMPORTANT: What am I not allowed to do?
1. registration in "fingerprinting databases" not allowed
You are not allowed to register your project in fingerprinting databases like "Content ID" or "Facebook Rights Manager" (e.g. via distributors like Distrokid, AdRev, Haawk, Identifyy, CD Baby etc). The reason for this is that the registration of your project to false copyright claims can lead. This causes problems for other users and future projects.
2. the use in "music productions" is not allowed
Our music may only be played in valid media projects be used. Sampling, remixing or reselling our music is not allowed. Below are some examples for illustration:
Example 1 - Singing:
You are a singer and want to sing lyrics to a piece of music from TerraSound and publish it afterwards?
This is not allowed.
Example 2 - CD:
You want to create a CD and just publish our music tracks on it? This is not allowed.
Example 3 - Meditation:
You want to create a meditation CD and use our music as background music over which a speaker speaks the text of the meditation? This is allowed!
Example 4 - Streaming:
You run a radio station or music streaming service and want to broadcast our music?
That is not allowed.
Example 5 - Software:
You have programmed a software (e.g. video editing) and want to sell our music together with the software? That is not allowed.
